Sonrise Ministries of Texas was first established in 1980 in Mobile, Alabama as Sonrise Ministries. When I moved to Texas, I changed the name to Sonrise Ministries of Texas, Inc.  We currently are members of South Texas Gospel Music Association.

I hold a BS Degree in Education (Math and Science), BA in Biblical Studies, Masters Degree in Computer Science; Theological Doctorate in Theology/Apologetics.  My precious wife, Alice, holds a degree in Business Administration and a BA/Masters Degree in Biblical Theology.

I play the keyboard, bass guitar and drums.  We presently have twelve (12) albums that we've recorded plus 2 Christmas Albums and a Valentine’s Album.  You can find the albums name and songs on the Information Page on www.sonriseministriestexas.com.  We also have sermon CD’s of three years of preaching on KCYL radio in Lampasas that are available.  All sermons and CD’s are available for a love offering to support the ministry.

My wife and I travel anywhere God leads us.  We have had the privilege to minister in the states of Tennessee, Alabama, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia, Missouri and Louisiana as well as Texas, ministering the spoken Word and singing.  We go into prisons to minister to those that are incarcerated.  We find this most rewarding.  We’ve traveled to Europe in the Spring of 2006 on a 10 church tour of England, Scotland and Ireland with the Larry Strum Ministries.  We held a 6 church crusade in Alabama in 2007. We’ve just completed our fourth Gospel Cruise with Paul’s Journey (The Relations) and nine other groups to Mexico in February 2009.  We’ve just returned from ministering in 2008 in Colorado, Arizona and Nevada and ministering on a Gospel Cruise to Alaska with the Paul’s Journey.  We will be returning on a Gospel Cruise to Alaska in July 2010. God has richly blessed the ministry that He has entrusted to us and we continually praise His marvelous Name..

Holding a 9th degree Black Belt in two different disciplines of martial arts (Isshinryu and Shitoryu), we’ve held youth revivals using tamashiwari techniques to minister to the young people about Jesus Christ and on the last day of each revival, we do the same for the youth of the revival.

I am retired from the military, I spent several tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany, one in Korea, one in Okinawa, one in Japan and various other short term assignments around the world and the rest in the states for a total of 23 years. I am a recipient of the Purple Heart (several times). I have been honored with other decorations from the Vietnam War. I’ve taught school, Math and Science, until I had to retire.  I am now 100% disable and my wife and I love serving the Lord Jesus Christ full time.

My wife, Alice, travels with me, not only for support but she also sings with me on some of the songs.  She’s also a Christian comedienne and we perform a comedy duo during some concerts. This is the best way that we can serve our Lord.  What a privilege it is to serve Him!  Our belief is that the Bible is the unchangeable Word of God.  We believe that Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of our Almighty Father, preparing a place for us for the day when He calls His children home.  We believe that ALL of God’s promises are true and that if we stand on His Word that He will be faithful and true to us.  We believe that we can have a victorious life through Jesus Christ because Christ lives within our hearts and in our lives and because He overcame the world, so can we.  We also believe that we are seeing the last days.  Satan is aware that his time is getting short and he is lashing out with all his might, killing, stealing, and destroying, discouraging frightening and whatever else he can cause to discourage the child of God.  However, Christ gives the Christian the armor and the power to withstand Satan.  We must persevere, be steadfast, and faithful, for there is no weapon formed against us that any can harm us.  All of the lies and deceit can’t touch us, but the trial will only make us stronger to withstand the test and make each trial a blessing.

I had my first stroke in 2000, and overcoming a second stroke in February 2005, cancer surgery in May of the same year and a heart attack (two blocked arteries behind my heart) in November of the same year and my wife, Alice, having undergone a quadruple and a triple by-pass on her heart. we’ve proclaimed before and we will continually, Satan is STILL and ALWAYS will be a liar and God is STILL and WILL ALWAYS be on HIS throne.  We have learned that even in the valley, God is good, no… God is GREAT!  Romans 8:28 says “For ALL things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose.”

We would like to be a part of your worship services and minister to your congregation in song and Word.  We come on a love offering basis only.  We have learned to never limit what God can do and because of this, God has richly provided ALL of our need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.   Also, our greatest riches are stored up in heaven.  We do this in hopes that we might reach someone that is lost, hurting, or perhaps even in despair.  Because of what God has allowed my Baby and I to go through, He has graciously given to us a ministry of encouragement, wow, what a blessing.  If we may join your services, please call either of the numbers listed above.  We are available for Homecomings, Revivals, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Funerals, Youth Revivals or just some good old fashioned gospel singing.  Until then, we will be praying for your church by name.

For a note: On March 18, 2006, STGMA Gospel Music Association awarded me “2006 Male Soloist of the Year” and “2006 Special Achievement Awarded for Unlimited Dedication and Service”… this was an honor I did not expect… In August, 2006, God allowed me to win the Senior Division of TGTS (Texas Gospel Talent Showcase – “Inspire The Desire”), in March of 2007, God has honored me with the STGMA 2007 Henry B. Talbot - Lifetime Achievement Award. In October 2008 I was awarded the “Eagle Award” from International Association of Music Ministries. In June 2008 I was awarded the “Man of Courage” Award from KNGY Country Radio. In April of this year,  I was awarded the “2009 Male Soloist of the Year” Award and I say that to say this, if I ever receive any praise, let it go to Calvary.

If you would like to just get in contact with us that we may pray with you, our information is below.  May God bless you and yours immensely, as only He can bless you.
